The story of Deepak In English.

The story of Deepak

Since childhood, Deepak was an ‘angry young man!’ Whether he was working or running his business, his anger was a major obstacle in his growth. He was working in a firm as a designer. Creating eye-catching layouts and designs for books and magazines was his job. Deepak was actually an artist. He would get angry at the drop of a hat, and could be seen picking up fights with everyone. But due to his hard working nature, many people put up with his bad temper at work. But just as they praised him for his work, they also criticized his behavior. It was no wonder then, that Deepak had a big fight with his boss.

The hot-headed Deepak suddenly resigned from his job. He was thinking of starting a business. He had lived in the village and come to the city in search of a job. His family was dependent on his income. But Deepak was too enraged to think about these things.

During that time he found a mentor. While speaking to him openly about his grudges, Deepak actually began to cry. He was truly very scared. His mentor understood that Deepak’s anger was now gradually giving way to a reduced self-confidence. It had been just four days since he had left his job. The mentor changed Deepak’s life with the advice that he gave him.

He told him to let bygones be bygones. Now he needed to look ahead. If he wanted to establish his own business, he must be able to control his anger. He told him, “For the next 30 days, you must keep just one target that you will not get angry. Your work is really very good. But you must understand the needs of the client, his problems, and then state your opinion in a humble manner. If the client still doesn’t agree, you must change the designs as per his requirement. Your financial target for these 30 days is Rs. 70,000!” On hearing this amount, Deepak was aghast.

This was more than twice of what he had been earning in his job. He was ready to work hard. But his mentor had just one condition; that Deepak would not get angry even once in 30 days. This challenge was truly a very difficult one for Deepak.

His wife Piyusha used to help him in his work. She was the one who was most affected by his anger. But she firmly stood by her husband’s side. Both of them together made a plan for 30 days. They were falling short by Rs. 25,000. But both of them got to work. Deepak put in his best efforts. He began to establish a good dialogue with his clients. Every day he found hundreds of situations to get angry, but he learnt to deal with them calmly.

In the second week, his client appreciated his designs and gave him the next order. He was very happy with Deepak’s communication skills. Not only was Deepak’s work very good, but his excellent communication also got him the next order from the client. ‘Anger’, which had been Deepak’s identity for the last 32 years, was gradually being wiped out. At the end of the month, Deepak had achieved a turnover of Rs. 1,25,000. The energy that he had earlier wasted in getting angry, was now being utilized in his work. Although the very first month after he left his job could have seriously affected

his self-confidence, it had instead proved to be rewarding.

He heartily thanked his mentor for his good advice.
